James Dijeau

James Dijeau
Founder & CEO

I am involved with Dijeau projects throughout construction—as a resource to our clients and in collaboration with teams regarding project strategy, site conditions and constructability details.

A fourth generation San Francisco Bay Area native, I lead Dijeau with a dedication to the region, and to setting standards for fine building, client service and jobsite courtesy. It’s important to me that our company feels like a family, and I am proud to have a senior staff of smart, talented professionals who have worked with me for many years to uphold these values.

The satisfaction that comes from working with tools, being part of a collective effort, and pride for a job well done were the aspects of construction that hooked me on my very first jobsite in 1987, during a summer job with my Uncle. My training included a regional occupation program followed by a four year apprenticeship with some of the best production builders in the industry, before I began work as a carpenter on custom homes, architectural concrete and commercial renovations. I ran substantial high-end residential projects in San Francisco for eight years before co-founding the company in 2004.

As General Superintendent I oversee the field operations for all Dijeau projects. My responsibilities include manpower, logistics, jobsite quality control, safety, and field staff training. I consult with our superintendents and foremen on the most challenging, unique aspects of each project, and provide technical and engineering expertise.

As a second generation high-end residential remodeling Superintendent, I have spent decades learning and mastering this trade from the bottom up. I thrive on the intricacies of construction, and especially love the projects that are truly one-of-a-kind in design, drawing on our deep knowledge of building and demanding the best of our creative skills. I have also had the pleasure of designing and executing many custom furniture pieces and antique furniture restoration projects for Dijeau projects.

My role includes feasibility studies based on the client’s program, budget development from schematic drawings, site condition inspection and analysis, design development cost analysis, construction estimates and schedule projections. A San Francisco native, I have been building and remodeling homes and commercial spaces throughout the Bay Area since 1988.

Project Manager

As a project manager my job is to make sure that projects finish on time and within budget. My responsibilities include managing project budgets and schedules, as well as high level coordination of the process as a whole.

I started at Dijeau Construction in November of 2021 and have found it to be a fantastic company to work for, with an incredible staff who are knowledgeable and passionate about what they do, and who produce projects at a quality level that is second to none. Building has always been a passion of mine, starting at an early age. Four years of woodshop in high school started me in the construction field, after which I apprenticed as a laborer/carpenter then worked my way up to a project management role and went on to study Construction Management and Project Management at UC Berkeley Extension.

Mark Garriga

Mark Garriga
Superintendent

I was introduced to building through family history and five generations of high-end custom craftsmen; apprenticing in my summers, under the direction of my uncles. Under their tutelage I was encouraged to study the techniques of building, but more important to understand how structures interacts with life.

I have since thoroughly enjoyed construction and provided project superintendent and management services with design, build, and development expertise for high-end custom family residences. I believe truly well-crafted architecture has the capacity to create needed environmental sanctuaries’.

In 2016, I have worked two consecutive multi million dollar projects with Dijeau Construction as site superintendent; one if Los Altos CA. and the other in Burlingame CA. The latter being a ground up new construction project. Prior to these more recent projects, I managed several multi million dollar NDA construction projects with private firms dedicated to providing high-quality construction projects on time and on budget.
